Hands On Program
The Hands On Program is designed to provide vocational services to high school students with disabilities. This is accomplished through community based placements at local businesses. TRICO is dedicated to providing a professional, high quality program that allows students to transition with greater ease from school to independent or supported employment within the community.
The following are steps involved with the Hands On Program:
· Preliminary Site Assessment – the coordinator asks the business person about the tasks a student could perform
· Introductions – both business person and student meet at the business site and mutually agree upon the arrangement
· Monthly Reports and Evaluations – the Hands On coordinator is required to visit the trainee regularly to observe and note the student’s performance
· Job Coaching – where extra assistance is needed, someone will be provided to train the student
· Letter of Recommendation – based upon observations, the coordinator drafts a Letter of Recommendation for the student
