Vocational Evaluation
A vocational evaluation is a variety of tests that allow individuals to learn more about themselves. The information received from these tests will help decide what future career or training program is best for each individual. The evaluation can cover several areas:
Job Interests
Perception Skills
Clerical Matching
Math and Language Skills
Dexterity and Coordination
Personality Traits
Physical Abilities
Work Speed
Learning Style
Mechanical Problem Solving Skills
A variety of assessments are used including paper and pencil tests, computer programs, “hands on” work samples, situational assessments, career exploration, and transferable skills analyses.
Key Factors:
There is no “pass” or “fail”. Evaluation results are used to identify strengths, areas in need of improvement, and suitable goals.
A vocational evaluation is used by individuals of all ages with a wide range of abilities and backgrounds: School-to-Work Transition students, Veterans, rehabilitation clients, and adults needing a career change.
Testing accommodations are used whenever appropriate. For example, these can include reading assistance, extended time limits, etc.
A comprehensive report is provided which summarizes the evaluation results and lists specific career suggestions.
