Hands On Program

Students experience work in different types of job environments. They learn team building,
communication, respect for both peers and management, multitasking, and accuracy. This experience is
given during the school day and a school credit is issued by the school district for completion of the
program each semester. Job coaching is provided by TRICO during the placement to ensure satisfactory
work for the business as well as assistance to the student.

Current community locations:

 Fastenal Fulfillment Center, Iron Mountain, MI-Process kits in mass quantities for national
companies. (much like the fastener kits provided in assembling your own furniture). We also put
welding tips, gloves, welding face shields, etc. into individual packages for easy to access use at
local factories.

 Dickinson County Library, Iron Mountain, MI-organize and fill book sale room with more
available books from the Friends of the Library. Also work in the general book stacks making

sure the bookshelves are looking presentable. We also help with the bi-annual book sales and
various other tasks needed done for the library staff.

 Central Super Market, Kingsford MI- ‘face’ items on the shelves, stock shelves with new
merchandise, and clean shelves from dust.

 Tadych"s Marketplace, Iron Mountain, MI-Help with facing items on the shelves, help customers when the need
occurs and learn bagging at the cash register when appropriate.

 TRICO Recycling Center, Kingsford, MI- help dismantle books donated for recycling purpose,
which means separating the pages from the binder and cover, placing the paper in one box for
recycling with similar fiber and putting the binder/covers into another to be similarly recycled.
